I spent a tedious 2 hours taking a ‘history hike’ in Charles Town, WV, only to end up walking around 1 block and learning about buildings that weren’t there any longer. The new mural was mildly interesting but the day was saved when I suddenly realized that Abolutionist Brewery was very close. A hiker had recommended a visit and his was good advice.

Bill showed a little butterfly and native insect area near Blandy. It was buzzing with activity and will definitely warrant further visits to monitor its activity.

Another day of perpetual rain. Nothing more to add.

Up as dawn rose to take portrait  photos of my neighbir’s champion whippet. He behaved so well, even with Rosie Lee behind me.

My new G7Xii is smaller than the old G15 but only has a wrist strap, so my Dad’s old 70’s strap has been resurrected. Works for me!

A glorious sunrise this morning as I left the house for work. Likely won’t see another for a few days as no surprise, we have rain forecast for the rest of the week.

Near me is a store called The apple House that sells OK apple donuts, and for some reason has a huge hot sauce corner, I’ve never understood why folks would want to consume these, I wouldn’t even remove the bottle top for a sniff.

The BlandyArboretum building where my friend Bill works on a Saturday. I spent a few lazy hours with him catching up on news over a few beers at the local pub.

This little chap was on my chair on the patio. I sprinkled some cool water on him which he seemed to like and then proceeded to water the plants. When I checked a half hour later he was here, enjoying the water in the newly filled pot saucer. Bless!

I’ve seen a few odd things on cars before, like reindeer antlers, red noses, eyelashes, or a cat tail hanging out of the trunk but I’ve never seen horns before.

While feeding my plants I spotted this on one of the tree stumps, Dog Vomit Slime Mold. How pleasant. It’s about half an inch wide so I shall watch with interest at how it develops.

We now have a new greeter as we enter Marshall!

I noticed I had a leak under the bathroom sink so set to repairing it. This is my 3rd successful plumbing job and only took me 20 minutes to strip, clean, tape and put back together. Funny how Dad was always superb at any household tasks except plumbing, yet it’s one job I seem to do OK at. 

The new back up camera arrived to replace my 6 year old G15 which has been through a lot. Here’s looking forward to better quality photos when hiking, biking or kayaking.

The sun setting and casting an orange light through a ceiling light lens that I acquired from an abandoned asylum. Sad to think that no warm colors shone through this while it was in service, only a cold hard white light. It certainly looks beautiful on my window sill.

The dawn breaking as I left the house for work. So nice to not be driving in the dark.

Chopping up the last quarter of a very sweet and juicy watermelon for work tomorrow. Funny to think that last year was when I grew to love these things. Wouldn’t touch them before. But now I can’t get enough. I have all summer to chomp on them!

Another night and day of non stop rain. I wondered when the flooding would start. The road is already awash and will likely be impassable tomorrow.
