This made me do a double take as I neared work this morning. At first glance I thought a pylon had fallen over, but then I realized that it was actually in the process of being erected for another ugly, new residential development.

After a full day of shoveling the hill still wasn't cleared enough for Stuart to get in and out so Bill was a superstar, coming to get me, so I could get some provisions and escape from the house for a while. Marshall Main St was like a ghost town with most businesses still closed, it was strange to see it so desolate.

Kota Kat finishing his inspection of my shoveling this afternoon. I just dug out Stuart, I couldn't go any further, it was way too deep. Hopefully the tractor will turn up tomorrow.

My gloves lived on top of the fire place all day as I went out every couple of hours to clear snow from the patio to scatter bird seed. The snow has been falling continuously.

Taken late afternoon and the snow will keep falling for another 24 hours. Drifts are already forming and the winds are picking up. It will be interesting to see the accumulation in the morning. 

Waiting for one of the worst storms in years to start but I'm all ready and stocked up for it. This image is a map of where the blizzard is hitting, I'm right in the middle, and my stocked fridge. Got wine, wood and water, in case we lose power. I'm set!

This didn't publish on the day...I saw a pretty large collection of old cameras in Front Royal today in a silent auction. I was tempted to bid but because it isn't online it would take a lot of traveling back and forth to stay in the game. Shame...

It's been a 'potty' day today, coming across this left in the middle of the floor at work and then later walking in on my boss actually using one. I was glad to get home!

The boss's son Addison didn't have school today so he was given the task by his father to empty all the trash bins in the company. He did an excellent job and ended up dragging a trash bag that in sure weighed more than he did!

This tiny building on Main St was always hidden behind a large bush. I'm hoping that they're preparing it for restoration and not about to knock it down.

With my two very dear friends Bill and Janice at Nana's. I had a desert as I'd had dinner earlier and never have room after eating a main course at Nana's.  We ended up sharing, drinking superb beer and just enjoying the evening. Superb end to the work week!

This is the contents of my first Ox Box from our local butcher, The Whole Ox. 5 portions of locally produced meat and fish for $30. I had the salmon tonight and the piece was so thick it could stand on its side. Cooked in rice bran oil and mixed with fresh steamed veggies and a dollop of wasabi mayonnaise. Yum!

Went to a Design & Wine class tonight at Herndon where we made bohemian bracelets. Wasn't too keen on the ones she made so did my own thing and took along a few beads of my own. The results aren't too shabby, I'll probably wear them.

While visiting Rob today we passed these vehicles. Rob said it was illegal immigrants that had been stopped but they sure had a lot of junk in their van. Maybe they were all packed up in the boxes?

Mum mailed my Christmas presents on December 12th and they arrived today.  Well done USPS. I mailed mine to her on the same day and she got them December 19th. I'm just grateful these finally made it!

Another party, this time the DCUE Crew at Liz's house, and Margie was struggling to stay awake to the amusement of Walter and Richard. An excellent evening ending with me getting home at 3 am. Whew!

After a huge breakfast at the local diner we all hiked for about 6 miles at the battlefields to blast away the last remnants of hangovers. This beautiful fungi was growing on a rotting fallen tree.
