I started building steps into the bank of the front garden so you can step up from the driveway onto the upper lawn. We had rain which will help the rocks sink into place but I’ll keep walking up and down them to set them further.

This is Rosie Lee interrupting me at work by sitting on my keyboard. Apparently, it’s lunch time.

Sunday, February 26, 2023

A late afternoon reading my book with all 3 moggies on the bed with me.

Saturday, February 25, 2023

At the beautiful Handley library for a pop up book sale. Note the cherry blossoms already blooming, usually it’s in April they appear.

Friday, February 24, 2023

I passed The Stone House on the way home. Built in 1848, it was used as a hospital during the Battles of Manassas in the Civil War. It’s recently undergone significant restoration work.

Thursday, February 23, 2023

Taking advantage of the warm weather, I dug up the hellacious liriope from a raised bed in the back garden, so now the whole length of the bed is now free from invasive plants. In May I shall put native plants in here.

Wednesday, February 22, 2023

My dwarf daffodils are blooming. Beautiful to see some spring color.

Tuesday, February 21, 2023

A foggy start to the morning. This is looking down the driveway.

Monday, February 20, 2023

Seen on Rte 66 today, a trailer full of motorcycles, and another trailer with an obviously very heavy load, requiring over 40 wheels to carry it.

Sunday, February 19, 2023

Malcolm sunning himself under the unseasonal warm sun today, while I managed to get some ornamental grass volunteer plants dug up.

Saturday, February 18, 2023

This angular heart was what Elliott and I each had for dessert to finish a rather disappointing meal. We barely had a mouthful each of this rock hard pink colored white chocolate encasing a mediocre cheesecake. We shared a bread pudding instead which was much nicer.

Friday, February 17, 2023

The sun burst through the clouds to light up part of the town this evening.

Thursday, February 16, 2023

Clouds hanging in the valley as I drive home from Warrenton.

Wednesday, February 15, 2023

A long overdue drink on Carmen’s porch took place tonight. We discussed world issues and failed to come up with any viable resolutions. But the company was great.

Tuesday, February 14, 2023

Dying up these hog panels. With garden arches being so expensive, I could rig one up with one of these bent over and 2 6ft T bars, have purple hyacinth beans growing over them and it will look lovely.

Sunday, February 12, 2023

I spotted this little library in New Market today. Similar to an old English phone box, it’s been made to look like a rocket. Very unique.

11 Feb 2023

Carmen and I went out for the evening, and saw these 2 lads singing country. They were amazing.

10 Feb 2023

Stuck in traffic again on 66, and saddened by how much concrete, tarmac and steel there is.

Thursday, February 9, 2023

I pass this little house every day and always wonder what it’s like inside. I love the front porch design and the green paint.

Wednesday, February 8, 2023

Doing roadworks and dropping in new pipes during rush hour traffic really wasn’t FroRo’s best idea. The tail back was a couple of miles and it took me 1.5 hours to get home.

Tuesday, February 7, 2023

This sign always makes me smile when I drop Stanley off at the repair shop. Oil change and tire rotation today.

Monday, February 6, 2023

I stopped to take a photo of this restaurant bus in Marshall this afternoon. I saw the bus online for sale, $125K. They have opened a restaurant in Winchester, but it would be sad if this bus location closed down.

Sunday, February 5, 2023

The veggie garden is nearly there. I had built the beds and trellis last week, and today, I secured the base of the trellis with decking screws, loaded the beds with Shenandoah topsoil, with Elliott carrying the bags across, and then I put down weed barrier with bark on top. Next week I’ll add local cow manure, then put the fencing up around it, add netting to the trellis, and put in a gate, which I found cheap a few months ago. I’ll be winter sowing veggie seeds, along with lavender and lemon balm to deter groundhogs, at the end of February that will go in the beds in spring. The wood sticking out at the end of the trellis will have some chimes hanging, as deterrents, and hooks to add string, in case I need more support for plants.

Saturday, February 4, 2023

The morning sun lighting up the warm colors of the glass in the lounge window, while outside, it was freezing cold.

Friday, February 3, 2023

Rosie Lee wishing I’d hurry up and dish out the 8pm treats.

Thursday, February 2, 2023

Gorgeous art deco style horse head, on a gateway, on my way home. There’s a pair of them, one each side.

Wednesday, February 1, 2023

We had a pretty half inch of snow when we awoke. Wish it had been a couple of feet more, but it was lovely to see this brief winter wonderland.
