So now I know why sometimes Rosie Lee’s eyes look green and sometimes they are golden. If she’s in the sunlight they’re gold, and when she’s in the shade they’re green. Here she is posing both colors. So glad that dilemma has been solved!

My wood was thoroughly inspected by the main man this morning when it was delivered. Because of the rain I can’t start stacking until tomorrow. Hopefully, Kota will assist with that.

Kota Kat giving me kisses. He’s having a good day today and monitored my work in the patio as I cleared space for firewood.

Friday, October 27, 2017

I met Steve and Marc late afternoon for a couple of beers at Broad Run Brewery. They had fabulous decorations but it was quite empty, even when we left at 7:30.

Thursday, October 26, 2017

Sometimes the stresses of the moment require some self spoiling, and a couple of glasses of red wine are a real treat mid week. It works for me!

Wednesday, October 25, 2017

Kota is always miserable when I’m at work but perks up as soon as he can get outside in the fresh air. Having a roll is the first thing he does.

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Kota sat on his cushion this evening and supervised while I fitted a rack to my bike. He watched the whole process very closely and even made a couple of squeaks, which I think was his way of telling me to hurry up so we could go on our hike.

Kota Kat Supreme checking the sky for the incoming storm. I discovered this afternoon that he’s pulling a fast one on me whenever he can. I carry him everywhere he wants to go but this afternoon I was chatting with one of Maggi’s helpers who informed me that only 30 minutes previously, while I was working inside and Kota was sitting on his plumped up cushion on his patio chair, Kota had casually strolled down to the cottage at the end of the barn, checked over the newly decorated cottage, and then strolled back home. I had looked out to see him on his chair, completely unaware of his little jaunt. I just love this cat’s character, he really is so human sometimes.

Sunday, October 22, 2017

I met with Richard today and we went on a 35-40 mile bike ride through DC and MD parks, finishing at his place to listen to music and have a few beers. It was my first day out in weeks and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I managed to get home before dark to take Kota for a hike and watch night fall with him on the patio.

Saturday, October 21, 2017

Every day I carry Kota on a hike and we end up at his favorite spot near the house. Because it’s hard for him to lay on the hard ground I lay down so he can sit on my back. Then he can sit and savor the scenery and fresh air.

Kota is finally feeling a little better after his fluid drain, rolling around in the sunshine and even walking further. He managed a little trot and has been purring continuously. His happiness makes me happy.

Thursday, October 19, 2017

My first trip out since Kota became ill 3.5 weeks ago, seeing Guns N’ Roses in DC. An electrical and memorable 3 hours of non stop music, it was wonderful to see the guys together again. Axl and Slash were incredible. Here performing November Rain.

Couldn't resist taking this photo of Kota in his carrier next to the Halloween skeleton at the vets. Kota successfully had over 700ml drained from his abdomen so should feel a bit better tomorrow once the sedation has worn off.

Monday, October 16, 2017

The patio plants will soon need to be cleared. We're getting low temperatures at night so the annuals will perish but the ferns and geraniums will come in the house. Soon time to stack firewood.

Sunday, October 15, 2017

Kota Kat and Rosie Lee enjoying the warm sun while I sat on the grass and scratched, I think we were near an ants' nest.

Saturday, October 14, 2017

Kota's wonderfulnwhiskers almost display 6 point stars as they gleam in the sunshine.

Friday, October 13, 2017

I carried Kota to his favorite spot where we sat for a while so he could enjoy the view. His heart condition is causing a fluid build up so he can't walk far but he asks me to carry I'm on a hike and loves coming here.

Thursday, October 12, 2017

I built Kota a fort in the bedroom. He loves his little sanctuary and even had breakfast in bed this morning.

Wednesday, October 11, 2017

Every afternoon now, Kota asks to be picked up and carried on a hike. Round the fields, to his steps, down to the pond or through the woods, or all of them together, with him purring throughout.

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Rosie Lee making it quite clear that I need to stop working and give her some fuss. So I did.

Monday, October 9, 2017

This is what I found when I got home from work. Little Rosie Lee hanging out and keeping an eye on her poorly big brother. Aaaw.

Sunday, October 8, 2017

Kota waiting for his breakfast. He did quite well and ate about half of it. He snacked through the day but his appetite is waning.

Saturday, October 8, 2017

Sitting on the patio with Kota, enjoying the warm breezes and sunshine.

Thursday, October 5, 2017

It was a long hike for little Kota, but he wanted to walk here and survey his domain as the night fell down.

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

Cool old fashioned truck making deliveries in Marshall.

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

It's 70 degrees outside but feels cool so I've got the radiator on, because he likes it.

Monday, October 2, 2017

A trip to emergency for Kota as his snuffing was worse. Really lovely doctor who gave Kota antihistamine meds and these will hopefully make him feel better so we can get through the scan on Wednesday.

Sunday, October 1, 2017

Sisterly love from Rosie Lee. It was quite a weight having them both on my lap.

Saturday, September 23, 2017

This failed to publish last Saturday.
Down deep in the engine room of the WWII cargo ship John W Brown, checking the board to see what job needs to be done next.

Saturday, September 30, 2017

Hanging out together and enjoying the last rays of the sun.
