Rosie Lee on the tread mill. It's not switched on but at least she's got the right idea.

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

More bloody rain but at least there was a double rainbow to 'ooh' over, instead of just cursing. I guess if I'd stood back further the rainbow would've appeared to be over my house and not the neighbor's.

It was nice to see some confederate flags in the Warrenton Cemetery.

Trying on a bonnet at the Monocacy Battlefield museum.

Saturday, May 27, 2017

While pottering around antique stores today I saw this, Noddy and Big Ears. I loved these books as a kid but at $45 it was a bit too much to pay for a nostalgic momento.

Friday, May 26, 2017

Had to compliment the owner on his bike parked outside of Marshall's 7-11 last night. Not a fan of Harleys but I love orange. I guess he was on his way to Rolling Thunder in DC.

Thursday, May 25, 2017

Sick of so much rain. I'm guessing all the hard work I put in in my veggie plot has all been washed away or the seeds have rotted, and then this morning I turned up to work soaked and muddy after wrestling to get a pissed off snapper turtle off the road. Where is our summer? This is Marshall as I passed through on my way home from work, the skies about to dump yet more rain with some thunder and lightning for added effect.

Wednesday, May 24, 2017

I found this little chap in the middle of the road this morning and took him to the hospital hoping he'll be OK. He had an injured back leg.

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

After work I attended a class on foraging for edible plants in Warrenton. Very informative and I gleaned a lot of information as well as having a munch on the mulberries growing by the stream.

Monday, May 22, 2017

I managed to get a pork leg with the skin on and roasted it, waiting anxiously and impatiently for it to be done. After 4 hours I finally managed to chow down on perfect crackling. It was delicious and the pork was moist and tasty. Kota and Rosie Lee agreed.

Prince, one of the wonderful llamas I met today at a visit to Twin Creeks near Front Royal.

Saturday, May 20, 2017

Helping Rob's niece, who fosters dogs until they go to their forever homes, bathe Gus who was about to meet his new family.

Friday, May 19, 2017

Had to replace the print head on one of the printers at work. The old one leaked and left this mark on the counter top. I thought it looked like an art work and haven't cleaned it off.

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

I had an unexpected visitor this evening which ended up in a stand off, staring at each other. I backed down first.

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Hot and grubby from digging the veggie plot so now it's time for feet up and a beer.

Monday, May 15, 2017

As I sat writing a card to Mum I could hear a neighbor's lawnmower humming. And then realized it as a huge hornet in the house. Nearly 2" long I was petrified as I caught him and took him outside to release him. He didn't look grateful though.

Sunday, May 14, 2017

I spent a very frustrating couple of hours erecting fencing around my little plot but was finally done as the sun began setting. A rhubarb plant and a cucumber plant went in so I shall see in the next couple of days if I've succeeded in keeping the critters out.

Saturday, May 13, 2017

While shopping for Mum's birthday gifts in Warrenton, these pin cushions caught my eye in a shop window, crafted by local women for a money raising competition. I rather liked #10, the owl.

Friday, May 12, 2017

Dinner with friends at Nana's accompanied by superb music from a local father and son.

Thursday, May 11, 2017

Yet another day of continuous rain, not good for the tomatoes.

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

This old truck passed me by on I66 and I spotted the dedication on the back. Respect.

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Very excited to see that all my sunflower seeds have begun life. With luck and good weather I should have a good 40 plants to grow along the front of the house.

Monday, May 8, 2017

Marshall Main Street at Dawn. I'll miss the old electrical poles and wires when They 'modernize' and make the town look like Middleburg.

Sunday, May 7, 2017

Exploring a cool salvage yard in New Jersey, where there were plenty of planes and automobiles, but no trains.

Saturday, May 6, 2017

A day of pouring rain scuppered my plans but a leisurely drive through country lanes had to be done.

Friday, May 5, 2017

It's still very stormy but the sun's breaking through the rain here at Meadow House.

Thursday, May 4, 2017

Finally got round to trying out a sandwich from the new Riccordino's in Marshall. I had the Italian sausage which had a skin on it so thick it was indigestible so I pulled it off but still wasn't impressed so that will be my first and last visit.

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

I saw this monstrosity in Delaplane and wondered what on earth it was and realized when I saw a lump of iron in a field a little further down the road, that they were supposed to be 'works of art'. More like 'blots on the landscape'.

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

Spotted these cobwebs on my peacock feathers. Not sure if I'm grossed out by me having missed these when dusting, or whether I should think it's cool because they lend an 'abandoned' feel to my window ledge.
