Today is Pancake Day for us Brits, but I had a hankering for another English teatime meal, boiled eggs with toast soldiers. Local free range eggs and local fresh baked sour dough bread made this a delicious meal. The pancakes will have to wait until next year.

A beautiful sunrise was beginning to brighten the sky as I left for work this morning.

Inside an old silk mill that Bill and I came across while exploring around rural Maryland.

Kota's face says it all, "OMG, she's singing again", as I yowled along to the Mamas and Papas song, California Dreaming.

Kota joined as I sat in Stanley, checking out the user manual for all the controls. He made a point of sitting in each seat and having a quick wash before deciding on the front passenger seat to relax in.

A bittersweet evening which I knew had to happen. I had to say farewell to dear old Stuart and trade him in for a newer vehicle. It was a hard parting as he's been such a wonderful car. Stanley, his successor waits behind him as I took my final photo of Stuart.

I love coming home and seeing my geraniums in the window. They remind me of a much read book that I loved as a child, The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge, which featured pink geraniums. I always wanted my own window filled with them and here I have them. They bloom all summer on the patio and all winter in my spare room. Love them.

Beautiful daffodils hand picked from England, making me homesick for those lovely country lanes with green banks and hedges filled with the color and perfume of spring flowers. 

Enjoying the best things in life today, some photography and a beer or two at Alesatian Brewery in Winchester.

A morning spent at the local flea market where I got rid of boxes of stuff and enjoyed a few hours of people watching. I was surrounded by smokers sporting mullets, I saw a woman hefting a huge floppy bear on her shoulders which she'd purchased for $1 and spotted a dude wearing snakeskin boots, a snake's head perched on the top of each foot. An interesting morning.

Undercover cops causing chaos in Marshall as I came home from work. It looked like they were checking all vehicles for something but I got through OK.

I was so happy today to discover a fabric shop near work which turned out to be the one that closed in Marshall 3 years ago. They had been in a rambling house filled with rolls of incredibly beautiful fabrics and trimmings but had to leave when the lease was increased. That house has been empty ever since but Haute is doing well in Chantilly. Time to think of things to make and find a cheap sewing machine!

The afternoon sun highlighted this ornament left over from Christmas. So now I'm narked because I either have to get the Christmas boxes down to pack it away, or I leave it and it will annoy me every time I look at it. I lose whichever way I look at it...

Kota and Rosie Lee adamantly refused to be in the same photo so I had to bodge an image on a phone app.And there was no hope of me being in the photo somewhere too. But at least they were looking into the lens! Happy Valentine's Day to my special puddy tats.

The pattern my lamp throws in to the ceiling reminds me of a theater light, or the iris of an eye.

My first ever visit to a Krispy Kreme store where we watched the doughnuts being made and enjoyed a second breakfast.

Yet a few more beers in yet another brewery, and we're not done yet! The first day of The Richmond Brewery Tour.

These look like a pile of folded fluffy towels, but actually they're paint brushes.

I had to drive most of the way home through a blizzard but as I neared home the sun burst through the clouds and the trees on the hill looked magical with their trunks dusted with snow.

I cleaned the crystal that hangs by the kitchen window. With the dust removed rainbow colors sparkles in the afternoon sun. 

This made me chuckle. It would seem that as well as big meat pieces Rosie Lee doesn't like peas. She had a lot of gravy in her dinner tonight so to leave these morsels as dry as this involved plenty of licking.

A mostly munched corn husk in a field I visited today. It's good to know the wild animals and birds aren't struggling too much for food this winter.

This saddens me. Since I've lived at Meadow House there has been a death every year on this road, people drive way too fast for this country lane. This is the first marker I've seen down here but it represents the 6th death in 6 years.

Kota spent a lot of the day checking on me. I'm still not out of the woods but I'm getting g there!

Steve and Marc wanted shirts printed showing a joke that was shared at their work. Don't really get it but I came up with the artwork. Just need to get the DTG fixed at work so I can print them...
