Cocktails were plentiful and the company was exquisite, we had a lot of fun at Laurie's birthday partly, and the best part was that the venue was on the other side of the hill, so I only had to stagger to my front door at the end of the evening.

The most delicious pecan pie ever. Gobbled down at the Wayside Inn where Janice and I enjoyed our Thanksgiving lunch.

First snow of the winter and we got about 3". I had to take 4 attempts to get up the hill.

Our lunch being made today, homemade beef and veggie soup with grilled cheese sandwiches that would be served once we'd finished exploring an old train yard.

On Rte 50 where the countryside ends and where construction begins. Ugly construction sites have devoured pretty fields for the next 5 miles.

Hard to get creative with the daily photo when I'm stuck lying on my back but I played around with an image of my fireplace and shelf.

My back went early this morning so the day spent laying down, unable to sit, and Rosie Lee perched on me for most of the day. Kota was a little more considerate and sat on the back of the sofa looking down on me.

Waiting for my acorn squash to cook. I don't like savory things made sweet so no sugar for mine. These are cooking with a smear of hazelnut oil, garlic, sage and thyme, then will be sprinkled with grated sharp cheddar, sea salt and coarse pepper when they emerge. My mouth is watering while writing this!

With today's blustery and rainy weather, it seemed a perfect opportunity to knock up a leek, potato and turkey soup with blue cheese crumbled over the top. Delicious!
