This made me jump the first time it caught my eye but now I look out for it. It's awesome!

I never knew that we had a reclusive air strip near Marshall, nestled in green fields with deer grazing along it. It's long enough to take a 747 and has 3 flag poles but no hangers. I got to it via a narrow lane ending at a white gate but didn't dare to go through. There's some info on it here:
This could possibly be for government use since Mount Weather is very close by. Info on that here:

The 7/11 scare3crow in Marshall looking pretty chilledf and relaxed.

Maybe an ce cream sundae wasn't the best way to end a cold motor biking weekend with friends but at least it had hot chocolate fudge sauce!

Fernando holding up a screen at work that Alam gave up on. We were laughing so hard, there were so many little pieces of tape covering the pinholes which were a result of a poor job in covering the screens with emulsion. It was a hilarious way to finish the work week.

This property is near to Marshall and was built in 1963 for President and Mrs Kennedy. 2 of my friends sent me the link today so I thought I'd do a drive past. It's at the end of a private road and once I spotted the intercom on the gate I turned
around and drove back out. Beautiful location, very private and a bargain at $11m. The details are below:

So lovely to have a blazing fire again. Smells wonderful in here!

So judging by the Roller parked outside, a convenience store must be a lucrative business.

Love this poster at the IGA but what's up with my local stores? No free range eggs to be found and so I remain eggless. I refuse to by battery laid eggs.

A lovely old gate on the way to work.

Forgot to post yesterday's photo. Kota was assisting me in helping a friend assemble her portfolio. I needed to take a photo of mine and he adamantly refused to move out of the frame, so he's in it. Guess that since it's an art portfolio it's allowed.

Rosie Lee at her look out post on one of the wood piles this evening.

The BBQ's cooking in Aldie. Guess I'll have to stop some time and sample it.

A bear used in The Rose Parade, part of a museum at Shenandoah Caverns, a very quirky and Americana attraction.

We have a new antique shop opened in Marshall. Inside I saw a group of clowns on a chair and thought with the right lighting and playing on some people's fear of these characters, they would make pretty good Halloween props.

Printing shirts for a rowing regatta this weekend and hoping with the client that it won't be a wash out.

A rainy drive home but the pumpkins on this wonderful Halloween display are vibrant in the grey gloom.

The beautifully crusty old swing that hangs in the Silk Tree.

Monday, October 7, 2013

Was going to replace the gasket on my wood stove doors but then a program called The Man with Half a Body. The wood stove could wait, this was fascinating.

The autumn colors are seeping into the leaves, starting to look pretty, but no autumnal temperatures. It was in the 90's today!
Walmart? No,  Front Royal flea market!

Friday, October 4, 2013

Oh dear, we ran a few misprints. Guess I'll have to wear one since we don't want to waste them.
