The cicadas have finally made it out of the ground at Marshall. Love 'em!

An old abandoned house that has been left standing amid all the new road construction near work. I keep checking on it hoping it will remain, and not that approval is being waited upon for its demolition. 

The murky world underwater. These are the stems of water lillies, in the lake I was kayaking on this afternoon.

So excited about going on the water tomorrow that I loaded Big Red onto Stuart this evening, so I'm ready to just get up and go tomorrow morning. I shall scream very loudly indeed if it's cold or rainy tomorrow.

A reflection in the window of Home Sweet Home.

Driving up the hill I came across two young cows standing in the middle of the road. They jumped up onto the bank so nimbly and disappeared into the trees, that I wondered if they had actually been deer. Glad I took a photo.

Had a fabulous history lesson on Marshall this evening and heard some wonderful tales. Will relate all in Lucent Moments in a few days. This photo of a still was likely taken in an area of Marshall that used to be called Free State.

A sweet gift from a friend who I've known almost as long as I've been in the States. Thanks Pam!

Absolutely sodden boots after walking through the meadows this morning.

Trying out a new low light app for the phone on Kota Kat and Rosie Lee. Had to hold my breath and keep real still but it worked pretty well.

Followed this dude on the way home. Well I guess we know what his interests in life are, don't we?

Orleans Market, not far from home. They make some great food here and have delicious free range eggs. 

Printed t-shirts in printed sling bags for a client to give away at an event.

The road was filled with cones due to line painting. Took me back to my motorbike test and I felt an urge to slalom in and out. 

Exclaimed in a Scottish accent, "Hoots mon! There's a moose loose aboot the hoose!"

Stepped onto the patio and got the fright of my life when I saw this huge Fishing Spider. He was over 4" wide and I had difficulty in getting him into a pint glass. I threw him in the meadow away from the house and was glad I didn't harm him as I found out they're harmless and friends of the garden. Fine, but keep out of the house!

Checked out a huge collection of old trucks and picked a few ticks.

My sun catcher caught mid swing in the early morning sun.

What a wonderful week if nature. Tonight we were treated to a double rainbow.

OK, so not my photo today, but I've just got home and had to wash my hands immediately as they smelled bad. I was nearly home when the car in front of me slowed down as it passed a massive turtle in the middle of the road. I stopped, got out of the car and walked over to the humungous snapping turtle who was looking a little bewildered. The car in front had stopped completely and cars were building up behind me. I couldn't leave him there so hoping for the best I bent over and picked him up. He weighed a ton but I turned him over and looked all over, not noticing any injuries. Carrying him to the side of the road I had to put him down for a bit as he was so heavy but then lifted him again and staggered down the bank to a small stream by a fence. Placing him down by the water I backed up and saw about 8 or so cars sitting and watching with smiles. And once again I thought myself so lucky to be living in the countryside where folks don't honk you for blocking the road to help a fellow traveler, and I also thought how lucky that turtle was that he wasn't crossing a road in NoVA. Oh, and by the way, the dude was about two thirds of the size of the turtle in the photo above, huge.

Scotticus, my chocolate buddy, and I patiently wait for our peanut butter and chocolate ice cream to be mixed. We took a Chocolate Devine mix home for Kim and woo hoo! She didn't like the choc chips or the brownie pieces so Scott and I dutifully polished off that one too while chortling our Chocolate Chuckle.

Yay!!! Marshall has now got a soft serve ice cream shop. The chocolate is delicious!
